A major conference on the technological, economic, social and political challenges of moving to a Low Carbon Society


Background
The reality of man-made climate change and its potentially long-term damaging impact on our economy and society are now becoming widely accepted. There is a growing scientific and political consensus that significant action will be needed to manage the transition to a Low Carbon Society

But what will the future Low Carbon Society look like? And what concrete actions will we need to take to get there? These issues are the subject of this major Conference at the University of Warwick, which forms part of Warwick’s Low Carbon Society Initiative.
The Conference aims to highlight the key challenges in the transition to a Low Carbon Society, includingestablishing credible and durable national and international political frameworks
developing and embodying new low carbon technologies
transforming the transport and energy systems to a low carbon model

changing consumer behaviour and business strategies
the development of effective economic instruments to drive change

Over the course of a day-and-a-half, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from experts drawn from academia, business and policy-making. Each of the five conference sessions will feature a moderated panel discussion which will provide delegates with the opportunity to pose questions and participate in debate. The final day will conclude with a panel discussion focussing on implications for the regional economy in the West Midlands
